Carrie-Anne says, ‘Growing up in Guernsey through the 80’s and 90’s Street Dance was something that just wasn’t really taught…it just wasn’t around, and even musically the genre wasn’t that popular in the main stream (thank goodness for those Hip Hop nights at the Fermain Tavern!).
I did used to train a bit in Breakin’ but it wasn’t till I moved to London and finishing college that I really “met” and trained in any Street Dance styles. It was so welcoming to me and I am so thrilled that at last the Channel Islands are pushing this genre forwards. Of course, I know there have been many people trying to push this genre for years, but I am so excited to finally see all of the islands street dance talent in one place!’
